Chevrolet decided to produce a limited production run of 69 COPO Camaro cars. It provided dealers with a race-ready performance car equipped with the all-aluminum ZL1 427 conservatively rated at 430-hp. 1969 Camaro COPO 9560 ZL1 A GM corporate edict forbade Chevrolet from installing engines larger than 400 cu in 66 l in mid-size and smaller models.

To satisfy this Gibbs placed an order for the street examples and Piggins duly approved of what became COPO package 9560 thus setting the stage for one of the most legendary Chevrolets ever produced. This 1969 ZL1 Camaro COPO 9560 is number 65 of the series. The original Gibb fifty were units 1 through 52 excepting 3 and 51.
