It can be faulty ignition lock cylinderI suggest to wiggle the steering wheel a bit and see if the key gets released outIf that is not helping then first turn steering wheel to right and try removing the keyor next turn steering wheel to left and see if you can remove the key.
Just restart the car and make sure the steering wheel is 90. The 2012 Chevrolet Captiva has 9 problems reported for key stuck in ignition. There is a switch in the shifter that sends a signal to a solenoid in the key mechanism on the steering column that releases the key.

If vehicle power is lost andor the transmission is not in the Park position the operator will not be able to turn the ignition key to the lock position and will not be able to remove the ignition key from the column. Trinkets key fobs ect ect. You will have to push in on the button on the lock cylinder.
If thats not possible some surgery will be needed. Another problem most people dont realize is the ring the key is on also is home for other keys. Now that weve tried all of the easier and likely things that can make a Camaros key get stuck that arent the key itself its time to go ahead and try to get the key out.
