My Camaro Key Wont Come Out
It has been in the shop at least 6 - 8 times for the key getting stuck in the ignition.
My camaro key wont come out. Another problem most people dont realize is the ring the key is on also is home for other keys. The 2014 Chevrolet Camaro has 12 problems reported for key getting stuck in ignition switch. This is a safety feature on all cars so that if the vehicle is still in motion the battery and engine can be safely operated.
You can use a small flat head screwdriver to pry it off. If your vehicle does not shift into park you will not be able to get the key out of the ignition. You will need to remove it and replace it.
This mess causes undo stress on the tip of the ing. If the car cannot be shifted into park you will need to have repairs made to the shifter. General Motors recalled every 5th generation Chevrolet Camaro ever built last month due to a faulty ignition switch which may allow the key to be knocked loose if it is bumped by the drivers knee.
I used the Camaro solutiontook out 3 screws 1 under the wheel and 2 on either side of the wheel when you turn it to 6 oclock and took the bottom panel off to expose under where the key goes. If vehicle power is lost andor the transmission is not in the Park position the operator will not be able to turn the ignition key to the lock position and will not be able to remove the ignition key from the column. One of the mechanism that is activated when you insert and turn the key is the shift interlock system.
This is what locks the ignition lock cylinder. Try reprogram key put key in ignition switch turn ignition switch on position 20 seconds dont start engine wait 20 seconds turn off switch then turn switch back on 20 seconds watch the theft security light blinkingwhen theft stop blinking vechicle will crankif light still blinkingtry few more times key in switch on position for 20 secondsmake sure you have the correct car keys in switch if not wrong set. Believe it or not when your Car key wont come out ignition switch its because of a rash of bad ignition switches in GM vehicles.
The problem started when the car had only around 5000. To release you would pull back up and hold the release button with your thumb and let it back down. Trinkets key fobs ect ect.
